Emergency Response Support for Shell Venezuela

Following the earthquake in Venezuela, Shell submitted an urgent request for MSA ALTAIR 4XR and 5X Multi-Gas Detectors and calibration equipment to support emergency rescue and recovery operations.

IRP immediately mobilized its technical, logistics, and warehouse teams to respond to the request. Technical discussions were held to confirm the required equipment configuration, conference calls were conducted with Shell, and an expedited Copa Airlines shipment was coordinated to Valencia, with onward transportation to Caracas.

The technical response was led by Daryl Heerelal, with support from Nadim Khan, Dwayne Joseph, Lisa Moniz, Marc Thompson, and the Warehouse Team. The team tested, prepared, packed, and dispatched the equipment within the required timeframe.

As a result of the rapid response, IRP became the first supplier worldwide to fulfill Shell Houston’s emergency equipment request. Following delivery, Shell’s General Manager of Procurement confirmed that the equipment had arrived in Caracas and was operational, providing immediate recognition of the team’s efforts.

To further support the customer, IRP conducted a live Microsoft Teams technical training session for Shell Venezuela and its contractors on the following day. The session ensured that the equipment could be operated safely and effectively by personnel in the field.

This response demonstrated effective cross-functional collaboration across Technical Services, Operations, Logistics, Warehouse, and Customer Support, enabling the successful delivery of critical safety equipment and technical expertise during an emergency response.
